Guarda Wallet is a free, open source tool for creating wallets that work with the Ethereum platform.
Guarda Wallet provides three different options to store ERC20 compatible tokens such as GFT. It comes in a web-version, desktop, and mobile variant. In this guide, you can read how to safely store GFT on Guarda Wallet for mobile devices, such as Android and iPhone.
Store GFT in Guarda Wallet for mobile
Guarda Wallet for mobile is available for Android, and iPhone. Visit the Guarda Wallet website and choose between Google Play and the App Store. The link directs you to the store of your mobile device. Download and install the wallet. Open the application to start creating or restoring your Guarda wallet.
Step 1: Download and install Guarda Wallet for mobile
Choose between iPhone and Android wallet, download, and install from within the store of your device.
Step 2: Create or restore a wallet for mobile
Create a wallet when it is the first time you use Guarda. When opening the application, it will prompt you to: Create a new wallet. Use the link and fill out a password. Write down the password in a secure and physical location. Using this password gains access to the wallet.
When you already used Guarda Wallet on your phone or desktop, you can restore an existing wallet using the backup code. Tap on ‘Import or Restore’ from the main screen and import your existing backup files and fill out your password. It is only possible to restore an existing account when having both these files. The backup codes are cross-platform, which means that you can also use a desktop backup.
Step 3: Store backup files
After securely storing your password the application advises to safely store the backup files. This step is extremely crucial because this is the only way to restore your account. Guarda will never store your password or backup files on their servers. Global Funeral Care strongly advises saving both your password and backup files on a secured location, preferably a physical one. When saving it digitally we advise you to fully encrypt your credentials, since it gains access to the funds.
Most mobile operating systems provide a file management system. Store the backup in a location, which you can remember and preferably can encrypt. Always store your password in a secure location.
Step 4: Add GFT as a custom token
After creating the wallet using the Guarda Wallet you can add GFT as a custom token. Adding GFT for the mobile applications works slightly different than the desktop or web-version wallet. To add the custom token to the wallet you can either receive GFT on the Ethereum wallet address or import an existing wallet with GFT as custom token from the desktop or web-version.
Once you receive a transfer containing GFT the custom token will be added automatically to the wallet. Global Funeral Care recommends to setup a wallet on the desktop or web-version and add the custom token manually. The wallet can be exported to a backup file and can be imported on a mobile device.
GFT cannot be added by using the smart contract address. Once you receive an transaction containing GFT the custom token GFT will be added automatically.
Step 5: How to receive GFT using Guarda Wallet
Go to the main screen within the app and search for ‘Ethereum’. Once you click on the Ethereum protocol the application shows the Wallet address. Use this wallet address to receive GFT. It can occur that GFT is not yet added as a custom token. No worries, because the custom token willen be added automatically once you have received GFT from another wallet. Once GFT is added to the wallet, the token will be shown under the Ethereum protocol within the application.
Step 6: How to send GFT using Guarda Wallet
It is simple to send GFT to other ERC20 addresses using the Guarda Wallet. Make sure GFT is added to the Ethereum wallet of Guarda. Head to Ethereum from within the main screen. Tap on the ethereum protocol and press on ‘Send’ next to the Global Funeral Token (only visible when added correctly, see step 5). Next, you can fill out the receiving address and fill out the amount of GFT you want to send. Click on ‘Next’ and following the intstructions. Make sure you selected the correct ‘from-address’.
Step 7: Verify token balance on etherscan.io
After receiving or sending GFT using Guarda Wallet, you can check the token balance on etherscan.io. You can do this by filling out your wallet address in the search bar on etherscan.io. The wallet address can be found under the Receive tab (step 5).
Use Guarda Wallet on your desktop or in your browser
